Entering Arches National Park is truly stepping into the great American West. Not only does Speilberg shoot his Westerns here, Butch Cassidy and his Wild Bunch holed up in this country for years to avoid law men. The sheer size of the red sandstone canyons will take your breath away, and the ancient stone arches will remind you just how young you are, whatever your age. Enjoy sunrise at Windows Arches, or sunset at the Delicate Arch (Utah's unofficial state symbol). Take some of the smaller paths and discover some new arches yourself, or stumble upon ancient Native American petroglyphs. Climbing opportunities are ample, and the area is famous for it's biking. Campgrounds are plentiful along the Colorado river, 1/4 mile from the Arches Park entrance. Take at least four days and a large memory card for your camera if you plan on seeing the best of Arches--it's no drive-through National Park--and have the time of your life!
